In what could see them land the perfect fit, Newcastle United are now reportedly readying a powerful move to sign an impressive La Liga right-back for Eddie Howe this summer.
Newcastle have crucial chance against Crystal Palace
For the first time in two transfer windows, Newcastle could be in a position to spend money this summer. And that should concern the rest of the Premier League. At long last, PIF could have the spending power to flex their hefty financial muscles and turn the Magpies into a consistent Champions League side.
Before then, however, Howe could earn qualification for Europe’s elite competition without any significant arrivals in what would be an incredibly impressive achievement.

He’s a future star…

As things stand, Newcastle sit fourth and one point above Manchester City with their game in hand set to come against Crystal Palace at St James’ Park. It’s there that they can go as many as four points above City and five clear of Chelsea in sixth. With the top five now gaining Champions League qualification rather than the top four, that gap on the Blues couldn’t be more important.
Jason Tindall is well aware of the job that he needs to do in Howe’s absence, with the manager still recovering from pneumonia, and told reporters in the build-up to tonight’s game: “We know the expectations and the demands we put on each other every day and it’s going to have to remain that way until the manager is back. We know what we need to do, we know how we prepare.”
Those at St James’ Park will not need no reminding about just how important Champions League qualification would be to their summer plans either, especially as speculation continues to arrive over Alexander Isak’s future and fresh targets arrive on their own transfer radar.
Newcastle readying Aramburu move
According to reports in Spain, Newcastle are now readying a powerful move to sign Jon Aramburu from Real Sociedad this summer. The right-back is said to be a perfect fit for Howe’s side and could yet join Antonio Cordero as the Magpies’ second signing of the summer. Still just 22 years old, there’s no doubt that he’d push Kieran Trippier all the way for a starting place.

A more defensive option compared to Trippier, whose strength comes through his role in the final third, Aramburu can provide balance down the right-hand side and also seems to have the type of physical style those on Tyneside adore.
Earning plenty of praise during his time at Real Sociedad, analyst Ben Mattinson described Aramburu as a “front-footed aggressive 1v1 defender” back in February, and Howe has proven to find the perfect balance between that aggression and finesse in his current side.
Back in November, the Sociedad star caused a stir in World Cup Qualifying for Venezuela, holding Vinicius Jr to a quiet evening in a 1-1 draw with Brazil. The Real Madrid winger lost possession 21 times in the match, while the Magpies target completed 90 per cent of his passes and was partially responsible for a late scuffle which erupted from a tackle on Vinicius, as several players on both sides were shown cards (Sofascore).
When the summer arrives, Newcastle could finally replace an ageing Trippier with a fresh option from Spain and one who could take hold of the starting place from the off. Following an impressive campaign, Aramburu is undoubtedly one to watch.
