Alasdair Gold has delivered a behind-the-scenes update on Tottenham’s plans to build an extension at their Hotspur Way training complex.
What’s the story?
In an article for football.london, Gold revealed: “There is currently work going at the training ground on a single-storey extension to the club’s academy building to help develop more young players and also give a dedicated space to Tottenham Hotspur Women to train and work.
“However, in recent weeks that application has been resubmitted to the council because Spurs want to make the new extension slightly bigger on the northern end of the west wing of the training ground. The new two-storey media centre, designed by F3 Architects, will have film studios for visual content creation alongside associated storage space, while the first floor level will provide work and meeting facilities for the club’s press and media teams. The council have until April 19 to decide on the new application.”
Another good step for Spurs
On the back of building a multi-purpose, state-of-the-art stadium, Spurs look to be taking another step in the right direction with their work off the pitch.
Antonio Conte has already made it clear through his press conferences, and even his history at other clubs, that he will be prepared to walk away if his ambition is not met at boardroom level.
While this extension and extra work to the club’s training complex is hardly the kind of ground-breaking stuff which would immediately convince Conte that his future should remain at Spurs, it’s an action which should serve as evidence that the north London club are keen to take steps forward and get things right.
Actions speak louder than words after all, and continued moves behind the scenes to get Spurs competing with the very best in Europe could go a long way to convincing Conte to stay put.
